Sorry for Being MIA Part II

Life in the Big Apple has been a bit insane lately. Not only because I've been working at a new job but I've been adjusting to life where there's always so much to do. I'm lucky to have such a helpful future husband. He's been handling all logistical things that have come up in the last few weeks while I've been off attending firm functions and meeting celebs like Mariah Carey and Carla from Top Chef... He mostly has to handle these things because I don't want to make personal calls at work. It's hard enough in this economy, I feel, but to add making wedding-related phonecalls at work during work hours (which are all hours, it seems) would make me look bad. E and I both agree it's better to err on the side of caution when it comes to this job.

At any rate, after a 5 week hiatus from wedding planning -- I'm back! This break has actually been pretty nice (for me not for E). And by break - I'm referring to the break from the wedding planning not from E because I miss him terribly! I kind of hit a max-out point in May after I got the invites out, but now it's time to reassess the guest list and see if there is any more flexibility. Fortunately we think there is, so we'll be sending out some more invitations, which means we get to celebrate with all of our loved ones!

So... expect updates from me on a semi-regular basis moving forward. :D

Also, as a fun side note - Erik and I have been engaged ONE YEAR!!!

Engagement Ring

I realized I have never posted about my engagement ring or posted any closeups of the ring (until yesterday with the wedding bands). I hate putting pictures up of the rings but realize it's one of the "rites of passage" for brides. Also, I was inspired by a post on the Weddingbee about taking artistic photos of your rings.

So, I decided to take a few pics for fun - with the TAX CODE. Yes, I'm a huge nerd. I just love it though!!

About the ring. E and I went ring shopping January 2008 and he made me wait until June 2008 to propose! We narrowed it down to 2 rings, and he picked this one. I was a little wary about it at first (at the store—not when he proposed) because our jeweler described it as a "tank" in response to E's questions about the likelihood of the diamond falling out. Never describe a woman's ring as a tank please. It's a turn off. Anyway, I absolutely love it and a little over 10 months since he proposed I have made the ring public in an official internet broadcasting way.

I've been thinking about it and may (after finals) post about our engagement. I'm not sure how many people know the whole story. I've been shy about sharing such a private moment but now that's it's been awhile that's wearing off. ;)

Celebrating With Friends

On Thursday, I finally got the chance to celebrate my engagement (and birthday) with my girlfriends at law school. My friend Anushila helped by organizing through Facebook (what would we do without Facebook?) and reserving the back area of Boltini's. Also, some of my non-law school friends were able to come, which I was very happy about!

This week has been really stressful for everyone, and I think we all enjoyed a night of relaxation and martinis! Thanks for everyone who came out and braved the weather! ( See below)

More photos of the festivities can be found here.

Also, photos from the first engagement party (that Erik's mom and dad so nicely planned) can be found here.
