So, one trend that I've seen all over NYC is Converse low-top (and high-top and super-high-top) sneakers. It's funny how trends work in NY. It's almost like living in a city of drones at times. In the morning, lots of suits walking to work. If it rains, lots of Hunter boots splashing through the puddles (watch out for the invisible puddles in the winter!). (BTW, the linked pair are the ones that I have - LOVE THEM). I honestly don't know how I would have made it through the fall/winter without them. They are the perfect bad weather commuting shoe.
Anyway, back to the Converse. Over a month ago, I assimilated. I bought my first pair of Converse shoes since I was in grade school. And perhaps, now that I think about it, I never did have a pair. I vaguely remember trying them on (everyone had black ones) and thinking my feet looked HUGE. I blame my cousin Kim (love you!) for calling me Flipper growing up. I was more a Vans girl -- especially my light pink sparkly ones with star shoelaces. Anyway, I was soo excited that I wore them out of a store like a 5 year old. I have no shame. Here's a photo commemorating the event, which I promptly sent to my fellow blogger friend so we could celebrate:
I also was excited to see this post. Just some affirmation that I'm getting cooler in my old age. ;) Also, if you want to believe that, ignore the comments.

Hmmm, I have to disagree that Converse are a "trend" in NY as they are more of a staple. They have been the hallmark shoe of punk ( the dirtier the better), hip hop ( the cleaner the better), and hipterism (the more colorful the better) for a lifetime. Nowhere more than NY has held on to this.
