When I first moved into my studio here in NY, I bought a rather large canvas from Lee's Art Shop. Had no idea at the time it was popular with celebrities. It was actually difficult to get it home. When you are used to driving everywhere, it's sometimes easy to forget that carrying a 4' x 3' canvas home on a windy day would be hard...
Anyway, I spent an evening in early March painting. It was the first time I had painted since leaving Nashville. Here is the painting as a work in progress.
As an overall piece of art, I find it rather juvenile. In fact, it's a little embarrassing to put it out there. However, Erik likes it. It reminds me of ball pits and circuses, which are rather juvenile. I also like the chaos and how it reminds me of those eye tests you take as a child to see whether you are color blind or not. The colors make me happy and go with my otherwise monochrome pallet in the apartment -- the white couch tends to freak people out a bit.
Looks like this but picture two of these babies in front (in Lemongrass) |
