A few days ago I got an email that said my
original Kiva loan had been partially repaid. The website gave me an option of using those funds and applying them to another micro-loan. I decided that that was
exactly what I would do.
This is Norma and she lives in La Paz, Bolivia. From her bio:
Norma is a long standing Emprender client. She sells stationery, office supplies, decorations, gifts and other objects like greeting cards, books, etc. She sells a variety of products according to the season. Her book store is located in the San Miguel zone which is a very busy area in the south. She lives in the family home with her siblings who collaborate with her activities.
She is asking for the loan to stock up on merchandise for the end of year festivities. In addition, she has prospects for chocolates and Christmas card sales. Because of her store’s location, sales are good and she’s a person who pays her debts; she’s responsible and hardworking and grateful to the institution for the support provided.
I'm behind the Kiva average lending (I only have 2 but the average is 7.4 and I'm way behind in actual dollars), but with each repayment, I plan to invest in another person. I hope to keep this going and support several people all over the world. I know this is kind of sexist, but after reading
my book, I will probably only donate to women. I just feel like it's the smartest decision for families.
