My Birthday

One of the benefits of having your birthday as the Friday before a holiday weekend and the Friday before your last week of work is that you get to leave work at lunchtime.  I'm not sure if this is a formal rule, but I certainly left work at 12:30pm!  And, fortunately, it was a clean escape.

First up on the bday agenda: Lunch at Jean Georges.  Afterward, I treated myself to a mani/ pedi at the place below my building while Erik prepared for our dinner.  By "prepared" I mean that he promptly took a nap while I was at the nail place.  He cooked us a 3 course fabulous meal that consisted of prosciutto and melon, lobster black truffle risotto and steak and goat cheese sage mashed potatoes.  Can you say 5,000 calories consumed in one day!?  Fortunately, it was spanned over several hours.

Yes, requisite photo by the sign...
On Saturday's agenda was WICKED.  I literally live a block away and Erik thought it would be a travesty for me to leave NYC without ever seeing it!  I was so excited and it was a great way to spend my bday.  One of the best parts was only having to leave a few minutes before showtime and then not having to fight traffic to leave.  Maybe I should have taken advantage of how close I live to the theater district....

The set design was really interesting.  I liked how it tied into the clock.  I will say that the musical was not my favorite.  I think that I'm just not a big fan of "fantasy" musicals.  Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic that we went!  I honestly think that it's one of those "book was better than the musical" thing.
