Hiatus: See You in August

As taxing and awful bar review is, it has taught me some important things so far.  Throughout this whole process, I have learned how to say "no":
  • No, I'm sorry I can't go to your baby shower that's 4+ hours away even though I love you and want to be there.
  •  No, I can't make your wedding although I love you and your future husband and my husband is in your wedding.  Really, you don't want me there anyway because it's 9 days before the bar exam and I'll either be 1) wanting to do flashcards at inappropriate times or 2) drinking myself into denial.
  • No, FB, I can't hang out with you anymore.  You are a time suck.  Sorry. See you in August.
  • No, I can't respond to your email in a timely fashion.  I would love to, seriously, but I lack the brain power to form full sentences and to articulate non-legal things.  I can send you my practice essay instead.  Would that work for you?  I thought not.  We'll catch up in August.
  • No, I can't go to that really fun barbeque at your friends' apartment, dear husband.  I have to study Con Law because I scored a whopping 39% on my practice exam despite the fact that I CALI'd the goshdarn class (Cue freak out!!!!).
  • No, I can't find time to do the laundry or vacuum... you'll have to pick up the slack, buddy.  Oh, you're wrapping up your PhD to defend at the end of next month? I guess we'll just live in filth. [disclaimer: if you know me, my definition of "filth" is most people's company-clean].
And finally,
  • No, I can't go see Grandpa after his surgery because I'm so behind from my inability to say "no" in May and early June.  Thank god I have SUPER-amazing/ understanding in-laws!
So, there you have it folks.  Bar study has officially made me a crazy, selfish person.  I'm 200+ postings behind in my Google Reader.  I forget to wash my hair.  And, I've had to implement emergency dieting measures to make sure I have pants that fit for the actual exam. (It's been a week and I've lost 2 lbs!).  My "reward" for working hard throughout the day is doing flashcards while *gasp* drinking a glass of wine and watching tv.

So, this next part will come as no surprise.  I'm taking a hiatus from blog responsibilities.  Granted, I haven't been blogging much, but now I won't feel guilty about it.

Wish me luck! 4 weeks from right now, I plan to be drinking it up in NYC celebrating being done with the Bar Exam.  I also accept random hugs in the hallway, care packages and sweet emails (that need no reply) of encouragement! (Yes, I'm obnoxiously asking for niceties.  Whatever, I would do it for you... Yeah, now I'm starting with the guilt.  Damn Catholic upbringing...).

Can't wait for this to be over and have 2 full months off before starting work at my firm, where I'll be starting in 110 days!
