Life Gets in Way of Blogging

My overambitious goal of blogging every day has obviously fallen by the wayside.  New Goal: Weekly posts!  After posting this, I will have accomplished this goal.  At least that's something I can check off my list.

My reasons for not posting consistently?  Well, life happens.  Really, it's probably more like, bar review happens . . . and happens . . . and happens . . . . I've scheduled blogging time at the end of the night when I'm unwinding and watching tv with E but I'm so brain dead at that point that my posts would maybe consist of 3 sentences, mostly to the tune of "Hate bar review.  Out of town again this weekend. Falling asleep."  That does not make for interesting reading!

How is it that I'm able to blog now?  I'm at the car dealership getting my oil changed (about 2,170 miles after I was supposed to - oops!) and they have free wi-fi.  Also, they have the tv blasting about the BP hearings, and it's just too painful to listen too.  I mean, sure, Hayward is the CEO but he doesn't know every minute detail of every decision made.  That's why he has employees.  In fact, the 5 minutes I could stand to listen to it made me respect him more and respect our representatives less.  Seriously, if I were him I would have been very close to just getting up and walking out.  They are being positively rude.  Maybe they should do an internal investigation as to why the proper government body wasn't properly regulating the drilling?  While I'm on politics, I read this today on CNN.  I know that we are in a particularly anti-intellectualist period of our history, but really? Should we be?

This passage was highlighted as "unfortunate":
That is why just after the rig sank, I assembled a team of our nation's best scientists and engineers to tackle this challenge -- a team led by Dr. Steven Chu, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and our nation's secretary of energy.
Really? I mean, it isn't the best prose ever but it makes sense.  Granted, I'm a law graduate and probably am guilty of the same things that our President is being criticized for here.  I don't know about you, but I would rather a President speak above my head.  I mean, he's the President.  He's supposed to know more than me.  It just reminds me of the stuff during the election when people were like, "I like Sarah Palin.  She's an average Joe just like me."  No.  I want someone better, smarter, and more creative at problem solving than me.  Okay, rant over...

Anyway, to avoid the angry-rant-inducing hearing, I'm sporting some headphones and blogging about nothing.  Mostly making excuses, must like I did last summer (and again) for not blogging.  Funny enough it was a year ago right around now... Hmm... something about June maybe.

I was thinking about ways to get motivated to blog.  And I came on one that takes your help.  If you read this blog, can you leave a comment, "follow" me, or shoot me an email?  It helps to think that people are actually reading this thing, and it's not just me spouting things off into the ether.  There are a few of you who I know read with regularity––KT, TD, KP, SS (§ - should you ever choose to be like Prince and be a symbol), CR, JB (maybe).  Thanks, guys!

  2. Same here, about reading through Google Reader, but I do get to it! :)

And, I TOTALLY agree with you re: the Obama thing. That article was ridiculous. It's shameful that an average 4.5 letters per word is considered too long!!! I mean, seriously, what's the matter with people? The whole tone of that article was over the top and maddening! Ugh. Okay, rant over here. Now to outline ;)

  3. I am surprised that people thought Obama's speech was difficult to understand. It was just a regular ass speech. If people don't understand him when he speaks, they should get edumacated, or something :P

  4. I thought I was following your blog already! I can be a little mindless sometime, but certainly don't have a problem w/Obama's speech--at least in understanding it. I totally agree on the Palin problem. The woman didn't know Africa is a continent. Of course people can and do learn a lot of what they need to know when they are actually in office, but I mean, this is basic knownledge and intelligence. Sheesh!
