I feel so lucky to be living in NYC and be able to witness Manhattanhenge in person. I was able to watch the sunset around 8pm at 57th Street and 7th Avenue. According to the Gothamist, I was in an ideal location. That wasn't by coincidence. :)
Anyway, Manhattanhenge is a biennial event that happens on either side of the summer solstice. It's when the sun sets in such a way that it is centered between the cross streets, creating a natural light show and reason for people to stand in the middle of the street taking photos. Lucky for me, the sun hit the perfect spot just in time for the crosswalk sign to be green! Bonus. I think my photos rival these, what do you think?
absolutely beautiful meaghan!
