Vacation: Mini-Vaca in Martha's Vineyard

Due to some family stuff that's going on with E and I right now (nothing bad, just private) he was unable to come with me to Pensacola to see my brother.  So, I jumped on a LivingSocial deal that included a day trip to Martha's Vineyard off of Cape Cod (I'm sooo embarrassed to admit that I thought Cape Cod was a city!  Turns out it's a cape! Who'da thunk it!?!) for $46/ person!  It included the trip to Cape Cod and the ferry.  We had a fabulous day checking out the island and quintessential New England towns.  One thing that we did not expect about Martha's Vineyard was the prolific blue hydrangea (our wedding flower!).  I think we (okay, really, it was just me) pointed out every single instance of this flowering bush.  I loved seeing it with the right color and in its "natural" environment!

Our ferry to Oak Bluffs

Ready to sail

If you click on the picture to get the bigger version, you can barely make out a white lighthouse.  Based on the map, I think it's the West Chop Lighthouse in Vineyard Haven but don't quote me on it!
Is this not amazing?!

Look more hydrangeas!
Notice the amazing Gingerbread Cottages.  They were basically on top of each other.  Pretty cool!
Each had a different theme.

Exactly like at our wedding!

The Old Whaling Church was building in 1843 at the height of the whaling industry.

Aw, New England with the white buildings and black shutters!
Us in front of the Edgartown Lighthouse.
E and I are convinced that the random guy we asked to take our photo is a professional photographer.  He got all fancy with the zoom and took two really awesome pictures.  Maybe I should look into what I can do with my 2005 digital camera... (Note: Most photos on blog are taken with my iPhone)
"We're going to need a bigger boat."

A rainbow of hydrangeas!  Can you tell how fascinated I was/ am!?!
Of course we had to go to Black Dogs.  We had, however, the most horrible service in the history of all bad service at restaurants.  Like, almost-but-not-quite funny now after the fact.
Erik pretending it's our favorite place ever! Very convincing, eh?

Oak Bluffs (and my hubby's cute backside)
Sunset at the pier (we were enjoying a nice adult beverage before the ferry)

So dorky

What a fun and way-too-short day!
All and all it was a great time.  We started referring to our trip as a "scouting trip" because we want to go back and actually stay on the island.  Only having 6 hours really stressed me out most of the time because I wanted to see everything.  Note to self: Not a good mini-vaca person. :)
